Inspired by traditional Swedish female craftsmanship, each rug in the collection is a modern interpretation of historical influences. Discover five unique rug designs, hand-woven with colors and patterns that carry strong cultural and aesthetic significance.
This product is part of Layered's Röllakan collection, which combines modern design with traditional Scandinavian female craftsmanship.Inspired by the traditional röllakan rug, which has played an important role in Scandinavian folk tradition for over 1,000 years, the collection presents five unique rugs in a monochrome color palette and geometric patterns. The rug ‘Hilma’ comes in the colors Fern, Marigold, and Meadow, and the rug ‘Iris’ in the colors Petrol and Raspberry. Like traditional röllakan rugs, these rugs are handwoven, with a vertical warp of 100% cotton and a horizontal weft of 100% wool.
The rugs presented in the Röllakan collection are designed to fit in all types of rooms and is particularly suitable for kitchens and dining rooms due to its easy-care properties.

Care Instructions:
A wool rug is easier to take care of than viscose and has a natural impregnation in their fibers. Wool rugs shed due to their natural material, and the shedding never completely stops, but it decreases over time with regular vacuuming. Vacuum the rug regularly, ideally once a week, using a soft vacuum attachment. If the rug is often exposed to direct sunlight, it’s a good idea to rotate it occasionally to prevent fading.
Samples:
We offer samples in different sizes to help you make a long-term decision. For patterned rugs or rugs with varying pile heights and textures, we recommend the 20" x 20" sample size. Please note that for patterned styles, the sample only shows a carefully selected part of the pattern and does not represent the full design of the rug. The 4" x 7" sample size is ideal when the focus is solely on verifying color choice and texture.
Size Guide Living Room:
Front legs of sofas and armchairs should rest on the rug. Rug should extend about 8–12 inches beyond the furniture.
Size Guide Dining Room:
Rug should fit under the table and chairs, even when chairs are pulled out. Ensure at least 24 inches extra on each side beyond the table.
Size Guide Bedroom:
Rug should extend well beyond the bed. A good rule is 24–36 inches on each side.
